Chandler was founded by a man named Dr. Alexader John Chandler. He purchased approximately 80 acres from the federal government in the lat 1800's. Dr. Chandler developed canals and a complex system for transporting water that is still used today. These canals helped transform Chandler from a desolate area into a great agricultural town. They grew crops such as cotton in abundance.

Today, Chandler has about 250,000 residents and has been one of the fastest growing cities in Arizona and all of the United States over the past twenty years.
